Jerry A. Newhouse, age 83, formerly of Ann Arbor, passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2017 at Wolf Creek Campus. He was born on February 24, 1934 to Jacob and Amy (Studer) Newhouse in Sioux City, Iowa. Jerry graduated from Salix Consolidated High School in Salix, Iowa. He later went on to serve in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1961. For many years he owned and operated a t.v. repair shop in his own home in Whitmore Lake, Michigan.
Jerry was a talented violinist and enjoyed classical music. He often played for the staff and residents at Wolf Creek Campus, where he had lived the past four years. He was a quiet, intelligent man and could often be found reading Popular Science magazine, calculus books and anything to do with astronomy; playing chess with his brother in law and nephew. He was also a gifted photographer. Jerry was a unique person who will be remembered for his thoughtfulness.
Left to cherish his memory niece and nephews, Jeanne (Paul) Graham, Tom (Kay) Connelly and Jim (Rachel) Connelly; Stephen and David Newhouse; many great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Georgia Connelly and brother, Paul Newhouse.
His Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in Toledo Memorial Park, Sylvania, Ohio.
