Jerry Holman, age 54, of Toledo, passed away after a long courageous battle with illness on, Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 28, 1953 to L.C. and Jean (Johnson) Holman in Toledo. Jerry graduated from Libbey High School where he played football and attended Oberlin College. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed cooking. Jerry was a retired Sergeant with the Deputy Sheriff's office. He loved children and was like a "father to all." Jerry will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 29 years: Janice Holman; sons: Gerald II (Emily), Dereck (Mary) Holman and Charlie Sargeant; daughters: Miranda Williams and Annmarie Sargeant; grandchildren: Mason, Santino, Isaiah, Brooklyn, Elijiah, Olivia, Andrew, Austin, Angel and A.J.; sister: Carol Holman; brothers: David and Donald Holman; special friends: Becky McGraw and Jim Quinn; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Saturday from 10 – 11:00 a.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Memorial Services will begin Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
