Jerome C. Smith passed away on Tuesday, December 28th, 2010 at Flower Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was 87 years old. Jerome graduated from Central Catholic High School and was a lifelong Toledo resident. He was also a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during World War II. Jerome retired from Chrysler (Jeep) having worked there for over 44 years. He was an active member of the Jeep Retirees, the Catholic War Veterans and he also attended St. Clement Church where he served as an usher. Jerome enjoyed traveling and especially enjoyed a trip he and his wife, Betty took to Europe. Jerry also enjoyed his get-togethers with his buddies at Rudy's.
In addition to Betty his wife of 18 years, Jerry is survived by his daughters, Patricia (Joseph) Ciborowski, Mary (Roy) Lortz and Suzanne Smith; sons, Thomas (Jane), Gregory (Jodie) and Lawrence (Debbie) Smith; stepchildren, Kathleen (Gary) Smith, Kristina (Kenneth) Houstin, Randall, Bradley and Laurie Cornelius; 7 grandchildren and several step grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother, John (Lillian) Smith and sister, Joann (Wm.) Musser.
Jerome was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Veronica (Lemley) Smith and his first wife, Joan, the mother of his children.

The family will receive guests Sunday from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300) with a Scripture Service beginning at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Services will begin Monday at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 10:00 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church, 3030 Tremainsville Rd. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
