Jeffrey James Alexander, age 69, of Toledo, Ohio. Passed away, September 6, 2024 at home. Jeffrey was born on August 16, 1955 to Joe and Mattie Alexander.
He was a 1974 graduate of Jesup W. Scott High School, Toledo, Ohio (Once A Bulldog…Always A Bulldog). Jeff was a STNA and he worked at Northwest Ohio Developmental Center (NODC), and Arbors of Sylvania where he worked in Therapy.
He joined the Army National Guard (Tracy Rd. 612 Engineers BN) and served proudly for 6 years, his unit was called to serve during the Blizzard of 1978, he received several awards however he was most proud of his Humanitarian Award.
Jeff grew up in the church and joined Mt Nebo Baptist Church as a child and served on the Usher Board, which he enjoyed. He later joined Southern Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor RP Wormely, upon Pastor’s Wormely passing, he joined United Vision Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Stanley E. Clark Sr. and continue to serve diligently under the current leadership of Rev. Perry Harris III. Jeff continued to serve on the Usher Board Ministry and stayed on his post until his health failed, and even then, he was still trying to give orders. Jeff never met a stranger and had the gift of talking and helping others, so being an Usher was great for him.
Growing up, he enjoyed playing Basketball at Indiana Park, he had a love for old school music, if you asked a question, he gave you the history of the song, he was the best “backyard mechanic” if a hood was up on a vehicle, he was drawn to it, and if you did something that could have prevented it, he told you so, in a Jeff one liner fashion “you know a car needs more than gas, try giving it some oil sometimes, if your bike needed fixing, Jeff was your go to person.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; brother Melvin, sisters Annie and Kimberly Alexander.
He leaves to cherish his memory, brother Micheal (Carolyn) Alexander; sisters Barbara and Sandra Alexander, Debra (Herman) Munn, Norma (John) Cross and Angela Alexander all of Toledo Ohio; nephews, nieces cousins, aunt, special friends John (Pops) Fisher, Steven Williams, Steven Grier and Jessica Cartlidge and a host of other loving family and friends and his United Vision Baptist Church family. #Heckle&JeckleOut
