Jeffrey Dean Geckle

Jeffrey Dean Geckle, known to most friends as “JD”,passed away on February 17, 2025, at the age of 63.  He was born in Toledo, Ohio, to Ron and Gloria Geckle, JD attended Springfield Schools in Holland, OH before embarking on a fulfilling career as an auto mechanic and in residential construction. He was respected for his hard work and dedication to his craft.

JD was preceded in death by his cherished parents, Ron and Gloria Geckle. He is survived by his devoted family: his brother Ron Geckle (Kathy Oldham), sister Deanna Wurst (Brian Wurst), and his nieces and nephews, who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.

JD will be remembered for his good-natured spirit, his infectious smile and laughter, and his unwavering kindness. He had a passion for helping others and was always ready to lend a hand to those in need. A big fan of NASCAR, Ohio State football, and Cleveland Browns football, JD’s love for sports brought joy to those around him. He also gave back to his community by volunteering to unload food trucks for a local food pantry, reflecting his generous and selfless character.

Visitation will take place on March 22, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, with a service immediately following, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Road in Toledo. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to local food pantries in JD’s honor, continuing his legacy of care and compassion.

JD’s warmth, humor, and big heart will be deeply missed but never forgotten. May his memory bring comfort to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
