Jeffrey R. Bitter

Jeffrey Richard Bitter, age 57, of Toledo, passed away September 14, 2023 at The Toledo Hospital. Jeff was born July 31, 1966 in Toledo to Richard Bitter and Margaret "Cherrie" Taylor.

Jeff graduated from Emmanuel Baptist High School, class of 1984. He continued his education at the University of Toledo and Owens Community College. Jeff proudly served in the United States Army, from 1986-1989.

Jeff was a huge hockey fan! He enjoyed watching the Detroit Red Wings and Toledo Walleye, where he was a season ticket holder. Jeff also liked reading, especially Sci-Fi. Jeff's smile, love, and obsession with hockey will forever be missed by those who were lucky to have known him. This is not goodbye, but we will see you again!

Those left to forever cherish his memory are his loving wife, Karen (Harwaldt) Bitter, whom he married on October 6, 1995; mother, Margaret "Cherrie" Taylor; siblings, Douglas Bitter, Keith (Kelly) Bitter, and Karen (Scott) Mawer; three nephews, Jacob and Ethan Bitter and Alex Mawer; sister-in-law, Tammy Harwaldt; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Jeff was preceded in death and greeted in Heaven by his father Richard Bitter; furry companion, Blackie; father-in-law, Robert Harwaldt; and mother-in-law, Patricia (William) Whaley.

Family and friends may visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. Toledo, Ohio 43614, on Thursday, September 21, 2023, from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Jeff's funeral service will take place on Friday, September 22, 2023, at 10:00 am, at the funeral home, with Chaplain Ann Augustin officiating. Following the service, Jeff will be laid to rest at Toledo Memorial Park, where military honors will take place.
