Jeanne Barger

Jeanne G. Barger, age 87, passed away Wednesday, September 14th, 2011 at the Lutheran Home in Toledo. She was born January 26th, 1924 in Sunbury, Pennsylvania to Owen and Grace (Slack) Snyder. Jeanne was a 1941 graduate of Waite High School. She also served as a Worthy Matron of the Rainbow Girls. Jeanne married Robert E. Barger on September 8th, 1944 in Toledo and they shared 67 wonderful years together. They had met at a dance which was one of Jeanne's favorite past times. She enjoyed big band music and square dancing with other couples at various dance halls. Over the years Jeanne and Robert traveled the world extensively, creating precious memories. Jeanne was known for her great penmanship, she always wrote a personal note for every occasion. Most importantly she loved spending time with her family, especially attending the, "Cousins Party."

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Robert; son-in-law, Carl (Becky) Grohowski; grandchildren, Kim (Terry) Lanning, Kevin (Kathy) Mieczkowski and Grant (Beth) Grohowski; great-grandchildren, Kyle and Kelsie Mieczkowski, Kirsten (Jason) Wood, Sandra Grohowski and Alyssa Pelish; great-great-grandchildren, Kalie and Jason Wood and Alijah Gaines. In addition to her parents Jeanne was preceded in death by her daughters, Sanda Lee Grohowski and Nancy Jean Briggs; grandson, Stanley Grohowski and great-granddaughter, Kayla Mieczkowski.

The family will receive guests Sunday from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Monday at 10:30 a.m. in Messiah Lutheran Church, 4703 N. Summit St. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to, Messiah Lutheran Church in honor of Jeanne.
