Jean A. Riley, age 89 of Sylvania, passed away Sunday, December 18, 2011 at Arbors of Sylvania. She was born October 5, 1922 to Donald and Annabell (Czaja) Witt in Toledo. Jean was the proud mother of six loving children, they were her pride and joy. She was a member of Northwest Baptist Church for over 14 years where she loved attending Pastor Andrew Edward's services. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting doilies, cake decorating and playing cards with family and friends. During the summer months, Jean loved going to Timbo's ice cream stand so she could order her favorite treat, a Turtle Sunday.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Tom Riley and grandson, Scott O'Konski. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Evelyn Woodward, Joyce Grodi, Pat O'Konski, Donna Culver and Laura Sears; 14 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; dear friends, Carol Rhoads and Troy (Jeanette) Miller.
The family will receive guests Thursday from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home on Friday at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Andrew Edwards officiating. Entombment will take place in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank Arbors of Sylvania for the care they provided to Jean, especially to the activity directors, Lynn and Kelly; nurses, Pat and Tina and also John Spangler, you were Jean's special angel while she resided at Arbors of Sylvania.
