Jean (Kulik) Posta, 100, passed away at the Comfort Care Unit in Lake Park, Sylvania, Ohio, on January 5, 2012. In declining health for the past six months, Jean enjoyed 99+ healthy years filled with vivid memories she shared with numerous friends and family members.
Jean was born on September 20, 1911 in Nowy Sacz, Poland to Anton and Margaret Kulig. She grew up in the Slavic Village area of Cleveland, enjoying music, dancing and traveling to her native Poland roots on a number of occasions. One of her inspiring moments was meeting and conversing with Nobel Peace Prize winner, Lech Walesa, the leader of the Polish Solidarity Movement at a Cleveland rally.
Jean was the matriarch and the family historian who had a remarkable memory of newsworthy events from the past. An advocate for education, she devoted numerous hours serving as a volunteer for the Metro Parks in Cleveland, as well the Senior Citizen's Center in Garfield Hts., Ohio. Jean will be sadly missed by all.
Besides her husband, Charles, she was preceded in death by brothers, Frank, Benjamin, Edward and sister, Jeanette. Left to cherish her memory is her sister, Emily Jagel of Palm Desert, CA; sons, James (Betty) and Thomas, of Maumee, Ohio; grandmother to Christopher (Beth), Darrin (Kristen), and Jill (Geoff Milewski) and great-grandmother to Zachary, Jacob, Delaney, Ruth, Darwin and Cooper.
There will be no visitation. Graveside arrangements will be provided by Newcomer Funeral Home of Toledo, with interment at All Saints Cemetery in Northfield, Ohio. The family suggests memorial contributions to the charity of the donor's choice.
