Jean A. Van Sickle, age 85, of Toledo, passed away peacefully Monday, May 13, 2013 at the Lutheran Village at Wolf Creek. She was born on May 17, 1927 to Alfred and Isabelle (Martin) Heber in Hicksville, Ohio. After graduating from Waite High School, Jean worked as an operator at Bell Telephone Company. She was also employed at Hudson's Department Store and Harold Jaffe Jewelers. Jean married Roger Allen Van Sickle who preceded her in death in 1990. They often enjoyed traveling and western style square dancing. Jean loved nothing more than the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren; they will miss all the time spent around the pool.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Vivian Risenburg; and brother, Richard Heber. Jean is survived by her daughter, Kathy (George) Offenburg; son, Keith Van Sickle; she was a cool grandma to 6 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; brother, William Heber; and sister-in-law, Jackie Heber.
The family will receive guests on Wednesday from 2 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
