Janine L. Slaten

Janine L. Slaten, age 54, of Toledo, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at Mercy St. Anne's Hospital, where she was surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 1, 1960 to David and Denelda (Carpenter) McPartland in Toledo. Janine and her late husband, Carl Slaten ran a successful carpet business for years, Comfordable Carpets. She enjoyed nature, the ocean, her pets and most importantly she was loving and selfless, always putting the needs of others before her own. Most recently she worked at Owens-Illinois for nine years as an administrative assistant.

Left to cherish her memory is her sister, Michele Smith; brother, Tim (Lisa) McPartland; life partner, Randy Morris; sister in law, Barb McPartland; many loving nieces, nephews and a host of dear friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, David and Cary McPartland; sister in law, Donna McPartland.

The family will receive guests on Friday, January 2, 2014 from 5-7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). A Scripture Service will be held on Friday in the funeral home at 6:30 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, 4227 Bellevue Rd., Toledo, Ohio 43613.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Life Connection of Ohio or for a Mass to be said in her memory.

Even after her passing Janine's generosity continued on through her decision to become an organ donor and by that donation three people are now given a new lease on life. Her family would like to especially thank Life Connection of Ohio for their guidance in making this happen.
