Janice (Chewning) Case

April 5, 1952 — June 27, 2021

Jan Case, age 69 of Sylvania, Ohio passed away peacefully on Sunday June 27th at Kingston Care Center where she had resided since December.

Jan was born on April 5th, 1952 in Toledo, Ohio. She was one of 5 children. Over the years she held many jobs in different fields but found her passion was working with children. She was a pre-school teacher for EOPA Toledo Head Start. She not only loved working with the children but she enjoyed meeting and working with their families as well.

In addition to spending time with her family, Jan loved finding a deal and had a passion for garage sales. She could not drive by a sale without looking! She found many treasures along the way and passed her deal making skills to her kids, grandsons, and nieces and nephews.

Jan was preceded in death by her best friend and husband, Charles "Bud" Case. Together they raised their five children. She deeply missed Bud when he passed. Jan was also preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Elizabeth Tussing; sister, Jeanine "Sue" Rickman; brothers, John Chewning, Jack Chewning, and Patrick Mahorney.

Jan is survived by her loving children, Melody (Jon) Dunphy, Ronda Matheny, Carl Matheny, Charles "Chip" (Susan) Case, Jr., and Lisa (Anthony) Johansen; grandchildren, Alex, Tyler, Damian, Christopher, Andrew, Stephanie, Danielle, Joshua, Ashley, Matthew, and Greg as well as several great-grandchildren; sister in law and friend Robin Mahroney and many nieces and nephews.

A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
