Janet M. George

January 31, 1944 — March 23, 2022

Janet M. George, of Toledo, passed away peacefully early on March 23rd, 2022. She lived 78 full and wonderful years.

Janet Marguerite Schuchert was born on January 31, 1944, to Joseph and Ruth Schuchert in Toledo, Ohio. She attended St. Pius Grade School and graduated from Notre Dame Academy High School in 1962. Shortly after graduating, she began working for Jeep in their employment office and that same year Janet met Joel F. George. Janet and Joel were married on August 13, 1966, the year Joel returned from the service.

They had two sons, Anthony (Tony) and Joel. Janet made the decision to leave the workforce and be a stay-at-home mom until her boys got to high school. Both boys are forever grateful for that choice. She was a gifted counselor and advisor to many who knew her. You could talk to her about anything, and she would talk as long as it took. She was a trusted confidant, gave great wisdom and left people feeling better about whatever burdened them.

Janet was the director of the cooking school at Gourmet Curiosities for over 25 years. Throughout that time, she became an excellent cook. One of her greatest joys in life was to cook for and entertain people. If you have spent any time in Janet's kitchen, shoulder-to-shoulder with friends and family, you know the true meaning of hospitality and what it's like to eat excellent food.

She was quick witted and her sense of humor was as contagious as her beautiful smile. She loved traveling to visit friends and family. Hilton Head and Florida were regular destinations. Janet loved life, but more importantly, she loved people and loved them well. She will be deeply missed by many, and her legacy will live on through the people whose lives she touched.

Janet is survived by Joel, her loving husband of 55 years; her sons Tony (Bonnie) and Joel (Amber); three grandchildren: AJ, Reagan and Lexi; nieces Kathy Schrader, Joanie Schrader, and Drina Rector; nephews Mike Schrader, Dan Schrader, Tony Schrader, Joe Schrader, and RJ Bee.

Preceding her in death were her father, Joseph Schuchert; her mother, Ruth Schuchert; her sister, Judy Schrader; her brother, Edward Schuchert; and her niece, Royanne Sanderson.
