Janet moved on to be with our Lord and Savior in the loving arms of family on January 12, 2024, in her home. A devout Christian, she was born June 5, 1941, to Irma Bell and Ernest Walter Wilkins in Monroe, Michigan. Janet was the second of six children including, Karen (Phil), Connie (Jay), Frederick, Roger (Linda) and Gayle.
On June 6, 1968, she was married to Raymond Fischer (80) of Toledo, Ohio and had sons, Brian Fischer (53) of Blissfield, Michigan and Jason Fischer (50) of Riga, Michigan. She also has four grandchildren, Justin (Colleen), Jessica, Christian, and Katie Fischer.
At the age of three, her family moved into their home on Custer Drive and she was so proud to be able to remain in the same house until her death. She attended Whittier and DeVilbiss Schools. One of Janet's proudest accomplishments was playing trumpet in the band under the direction of Sam Szor who was also the conductor of the Music Under the Stars at the Toledo Zoo.
Janet worked as a secretary at Toledo Scale, France Stone, Haughton Elevator, DeVilbiss, Jeep Corporation, and was a Kelley Girl. Later in life, she was a self-employed typist, cleaned houses, and took care of the elderly. Her hobbies included knitting, playing the piano and trumpet, and cooking up a spread for whoever would come to her home.
Janet attended Central Park Congregational Church and was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Gayle; and many friends.
