Janelle Shaundrai Campbell-Nash

March 14, 1979 — January 13, 2023

Janelle Shaundrai Campbell-Nash transitioned peacefully on January 13, 2023, at home with her loving family. Janelle began her life's journey on March 14, 1979, in Toledo, Ohio. She was born to Deborah Campbell and Marcus Newbern. Janelle was baptized at an early age at Indiana Avenue Missionary Baptist Church.

Janelle married the Love of her life, Demetrist Tirrell Nash, her real-life superhero, and soulmate. They first met when Janelle was seventeen years old, and from that point forward they were joined at the hip for the next 26+ years.

Janelle and Demetrist brought five beautiful children into the world: Delaysia Lyn Nash, Debi' Krystena Nash, Demetrist Tirrell Nash Jr. (JJ), Demar Ray Nash, Deylan Jaron Nash, and stepdaughter My'Kaja Alexus Nash. Grandchildren: Jerzee Leigh Caulton, Jaylee Lyn Caulton, and Alonta Savon Feemster II.

Janelle graduated from Central Catholic High School in Toledo, Ohio. She received her Master of Education degree from American InterContinental University and a Master of Science degree in Special Education, from Capella University. Janelle also received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toledo and an Associates of Arts degree from Owens Community College in Early Childhood Education.

Janelle spent her entire career caring for children in her various career positions. She felt honored to be entrusted to provide the nurturing for the children under her watch. We remember Janelle best for freely providing care and shelter to distressed children in her home, while also having five children of her own. She was so excited when she sponsored a 4-year-old little girl named Dianna from Africa, whom she emotionally and financially supported for many years.

Janelle's most recent position was Director of Child Care for the YMCA of Greater Toledo. Prior to joining the YMCA, Janelle was the Child Care Administrator for Toledo Day Nursery. She began her career working with migrant children as a School Teacher for the Texas Migrant Council in Helena, Ohio. Janelle was fluent in Spanish.

Also cherishing her memory are her Sisters: Brooke Burton, Felicia Nash, and Tasha Nash. Brothers: Christopher Crockett, Loyal Wyse-Campbell. Special Paternal Grandmother: Ladye "Moma" Newbern. Special Auntie: Wanda Newbern. Special Cousin/Best Friend: LaShonda Newbern. Nephews: Bryson Billups, Damani McCatty, Loyal Wyse Jr., Keahndray Nash, Kamahree Nash, Armahn Nash. Bonus Kid: Olivia Tall and Bonus Grandkids: Jamir Tall and Tyler Carey Jr. and a host of loving family and friends. Janelle was preceded in death by her Special Maternal Grandmother: Shirley "Gram" Campbell and Special Nephew: Jeshurun Kimball.
