James W. "Jim" Poling, age 73, of Toledo, passed away Monday, July 15, 2013 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center surrounded by loving family. He was born on June 3, 1940 to Lawrence and Virginia (Dye) Poling in Vienna, West Virginia. Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was employed with GM Powertrain for 36 years before retiring. Jim was an avid golfer and loved to fish. He also enjoyed playing horseshoes, bowling and traveling with his wife. Jim loved the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren; he was their number one fan. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Myra Missler. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Frances (Sumner) Poling; children, Vickie (T.J.) Szymczak, Pam (John) Black, Ken (Sara) Poling, Karen (Jim) Kachenmeister and Laura (Rob) Kime; grandchildren, Josh, David (Ashley), Cory, Shelby, Jordan, Jenkins, Felicia, Robbie and Kenny; great-grandsons, Kayden and Elijah; 2 great-granddaughters on the way; sister, Pauline Cordle; brother, Larry (Janet) Poling; brother-in-law, Terry Missler; and many other relatives and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Friday from 3 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
