James W. Phillips

James W. Phillips, of Toledo, Ohio passed away January 5, 2014 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio Toledo. He was born September 29, 1935 in Toledo to Wilton and Mary Phillips. Jim served his country in the U.S. Army where he received the rank of Captain. Jim received his Master's Degree of Education from the University of Toledo in 1990. He was employed with the Penta County Career Center for more than 35 years retiring in 2000. Jim was a member of the National and Ohio Education Associations and lifetime member of the N.R.A.

Jim is survived by his sister, Joyce Hynes Coffey; brother, Bill (Connie) Phillips; nieces, Kristan (Scott Shepler) Hayes and Kelly (Mike) Streichert; nephews, James Hynes and Joseph Hynes.

The family will receive guests Friday, January 10, 2014 from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Saturday at 10:00 am. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery.
