James "Jim" A. Vendemo, age 78, of Whitehouse, formerly of Toledo, passed away Thursday, November 02, 2006 at Whitehouse Country Manor. He was born on August 28, 1928 to Isidoro and Nancy (Galli) Vendemo in Toledo. Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Army and when he was stationed in Tokyo, he often bragged about seeing General MacArthur everyday.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Angelo and Isidoro Vendemo. Jim is survived by his loving family, sister-in-law: Betty Vendemo; nephews: Joe (June) and Bill (Linda) Vendemo; nieces: Susan (Terry) Miller, Cindi (Bob) Ruff, Nancy Vendemo and Carol (Marty) Ruff.
The family will receive guests on Sunday, November 5, 2006 in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., (419-473-0300) from 2 – 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Monday at St. Joseph's Church, 104 Broadway St., Maumee at 10:30 a.m. Officiating will be Fr. Frank Murd. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
