James L. Truby

January 5, 1938 — July 3, 2021

James L. "Jim" Truby, age 83, of Toledo, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 3, 2021 at Mercy St. Vincent Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was born on January 5, 1938 to Norman and Grace (Wagner) Truby in Toledo. Jim attended Waite High School and in his senior year joined the U.S. Marine Corps. for a few years. Shortly after being honorably discharged from the Marines in July 1956 he joined the U.S. Air Force serving his country proudly until being honorably discharged again in 1958 and meeting the love of his life, Angela Chavez in Artesia, New Mexico. They were married on October 29, 1958 and celebrated 62 wonderful years of marriage before her passing on June 12, 2021.

Jim was a proud lifetime union member of the IUOE Local 18. He was a crane operator for Fondessey for many years and then went on to EnviroSafe until he retired. Jim was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes, loved Nascar, and was a jack of all trades. He was strong in his faith and a lifetime member of Life Chapel.

Most importantly to Jim was his family. Spending time with his children and grandchildren meant the world to him. He was a devoted husband, father, Papaw and looked forward to family gatherings with everyone. Jim's smile, spirit and caring nature will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Angela; and 4 siblings. Left to cherish Jim's memory are his loving children, Frank Truby, Angela (Michael) Cunningham and Gina Frampton, all of Toledo and Kathy Michael of FL; 9 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; sisters, June Jirinec and Virginia (Jim) Corthell; brother, John (Patti) Truby; and many other extended family members and dear friends.

The family will receive guests on Saturday, July 31, 2021 from 12 – 4:00 p.m. at Providence Lutheran Church, 8131 Airport Hwy., Holland, OH 43528.
