James Summerford

James D. Summerford, age 59, of Toledo, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2008 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. He was born on October 16, 1948 to Garland and Thelma (Jones) Summerford in Adrian, Michigan. James enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and camping. He liked to bowl and was an avid collector of many things. James had a great love of music, having been in several bands. He often enjoyed spending time with his family and was always a hardworking, dedicated, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be deeply missed by all of those who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Tony Arnold. James is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Bonnie S. (Clement) Summerford; sons, Christopher Garland Summerford and Ian Shawn Summerford; grandchildren, Amber, Ariel, Kristin, Jonah and Aiden; brother, Robert L. Summerford; special aunt, Marie Belford; special uncle, Michael (Michelle) Bailey; 2 nephews; and several cousins and dear friends.

The family will receive guests on Tuesday from 4 – 8:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Palmrya Cemetery, Palmrya, Michigan.
