James Russell

James Gilbert Russell, 79, of Toledo, passed away on January 5, 2025 at UTMC. He was born on June 5, 1945 to Oscar and Elizabeth (Walton) Russell in Marshall County, MS. James worked in glass manufacturing and retired from LOF. 

James enjoyed reading in his free time. He could be found relaxing by watching television. He loved reminiscing about the Vietnam War which he honorably served during in the US Marines. He had a passion for fast cars and made sure to enjoy the little things in life like sweets. 

James is survived by his son, Robert Gilbert Russell; step-daughter, Lisa (Henry) Lewis; 12 loving grandchildren, with the youngest being, Karrianna Katherine Riggio, sisters, Alfreada Radford Tucker, and Carolyn Russell along with 3 others; 1 half brother; step-granddaughter, Kristina (fiancée Mike Gorman) Mays; special friend, Leatha Russell; many nieces and nephews and other extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Gilbert and Elizabeth Russell.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Chapel.
