James Robert Terry

March 24, 1929 — March 12, 2013

Bob was not only a one-of-a-kind family member, but a pilot, a soldier, accomplished public speaker with Toastmaster's International and just a compendium of knowledge.

Bob got his pilot's license before he got his driver's license. He truly loved to fly. His plane of choice was the Cessna 182. Every year, he flew to the Oshkosh Air Show with his buddies and loved to take his family and friends flying.

Bob met his beautiful wife Connie at Vineyard Lake. They were a match made in heaven and were married 62 years. You could always find them at the lake relaxing on their pontoon boat reading books. Spending time at the lake is a family tradition that his parents started and several generations continue to enjoy.

As a businessman, Bob worked at Toledo Scale before starting his own company, Triad (Terry Robie Industrial Advertising). Bob wrote a book called "Honest Weight", the story of Toledo Scale. He was very proud of the publication of this book. Bob was in the process of writing a book about Mad Anthony Wayne. He was runner-up in the 1960 Toastmaster's International Speech Contest in San Francisco and co-founder of the Anthony Wayne Toastmaster's Club.

Bob was always a practical joker and quiz master. He loved his grandchildren with all his heart, and they loved him. Bob the pilot, soldier, businessman, author and one-of-a-kind family member will be missed from this earth forever. We know he is right where he would want to be…in his place in the sky.

He is survived by his loving wife, Connie; daughters, Kay Shaw, Cindy (Bruce) Quatman and Sue (Mike) Remer; grandchildren, Ryan (Vanita) Shaw, Kelley (Kelly) Shaw, Amanda (John) Bussa, Kiel Quatman, Paul (Jaime) Quatman, Lori (Joe) Bolyard, Leigh (Adam) Pancoast, Ben (Amy) Remer and Ashley (Ross) Stambaugh; great-grandchildren, Logan and Ava Shaw, Brody and Jace Shaw, Olivia and Alexander Bussa, Bear and Ivo Quatman, Isaiah, Landon an Eli Bolyard, Hudson and Harrison Pancoast and Beyla and Benzen Remer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Vera Terry; brothers, Russell and Richard Terry and his great-granddaughter, Remington Remer.

The family will receive guests on Saturday, March 16, 2013 from 12 Noon – 2:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). A Memorial Service will begin at 2:00 p.m.
