James R. "Jim" Thomson, age 72, of Toledo, passed away peacefully, Monday, November 7, 2011 at the Ebeid Hospice Residence. He was born on July 4, 1939 to Robert and Juanita (Luce) Thomson in Toledo. Jim was the President/Owner of his own recording studio for 45 years before retiring. He was the recording engineer on the documentary Planes & Presidents even having the opportunity to ride on Air Force One. Jim loved boating and was a lifetime member of the Monroe Boat Club even serving as the past Rear Commodore. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Norma Bartow. Jim is survived by his loving wife of almost 51 years, Ruth (Hanf) Thomson; daughters, Jennifer (Dave) Dennings and Jean (Mike) Derr; and grandchildren, Brandon, Taylor, Cody and Cameron.
The family will receive guests Thursday from 2–8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
