James R. Coberley, age 73, formerly of Toledo, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2007 after a short stay at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. He was born October 20, 1933 to John and Lena (Fisher) Coberley in Trilby, Toledo. Jim was a graduate of Whitmer High School Class of 1951. He joined the United States Army, 10th Airborne Special Forces; Green Beret November 24, 1952 and was honorably discharged. He received his apprenticeship in 1962 as a Journeymen, Tile and Terrazzo, belonging to Local 59, which later merged with Local 3 Bricklayer & Allied Craftworkers Union. The love and beauty of his craft decorates many, many homes and malls and businesses throughout the state of Ohio.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother, John Coberley, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Della M. (Grimmett) Coberley; children, James R. (Joy) Coberley, Jr; Cheryl (Tim) Geisler and Timothy (Tina) Coberley. He is the proud grandfather to 6 grandchildren, James III; Alex; Matthew; Aaron; Troy and Tarah. Also surviving is his brothers, Leroy and William Coberley and sister, Lois Cason and many nephews and nieces.
The family will receive guests Friday from 1-2:00 p.m. at Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery and Mausoleum, Chapel of Peace, 6382 Monroe St., Sylvania with Funeral Services beginning at 2:00 pm. Officiating will be Rev. Dennis Lauman.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests Memorial Contributions in Jim's name made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or to the American Cancer Society.
