James Andrew Pudlicki, age 93, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2023. James was born November 8, 1929 to Zigmund and Anne "Dembowski" Pudlicki in Toledo, Ohio. Jim completed grade school at St. Vincent DePaul parish. He went on to Central Catholic High School, graduating in 1947. After graduation, Jim enlisted in the United States Marine Corp, stationed at Camp Pendleton in San Diego, CA, serving during the Korean Conflict. Upon his discharge in 1952, he was indentured into the electrical apprenticeship program at Local 8, graduating in 1957 as a Journeyman Electrician. Jim was a 50 year member of the American Legion North End Post #576. During his tenure at the post, he was a two time Commander, and later on was also Chaplain.
Jim's was an avid golfer, and could probably say that he made a one time "hole in one." When he stopped playing golf, he enjoyed watching his sons, Mark and Mike, play. The three of them spent countless Sundays together watching sports on TV. He enjoyed watching old classic movies and his favorite game show, Jeopardy. He was skilled at working crossword puzzles, and he also enjoyed fishing throughout his life, and caring for his beloved dog, Rusty.
Jim will be remembered as a man of few words, and a devout Catholic. His favorite holiday was Christmas, he always made the best cut out cookies for his family and friends to enjoy. He loved attending midnight mass at St. Patrick's Historical Church with his daughter, Cindy, and together decorating his home for the holiday.
Jim was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Shirley Munier Pudlicki; and his second wife, Elizabeth "Bette" Pudlicki. Jim is survived by his three children, Cindy of Santa Monica, CA, and Mark and Michael of Toledo, Ohio; his loving sister, Rosemary Zielinski of Toledo, Ohio; special granddaughter, Eden Grace Pudlicki; and special family friend, Ellen Newell. Also surviving are three step-children, Joanne Sabbagh of Tucson, AZ, Richard Sabbagh of Florida, and Nicholas Sabbagh of Palm Springs, CA; and many nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held for Jim on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at 10:30 am at St. Clement Catholic Church, 3030 Tremainsville Rd, Toledo, Ohio. Interment will immediately follow at Calvary Cemetery.
