James Allan Phillips (Sarge), age 81, of Toledo, Ohio passed away Thursday, April 5, 2012 in the Hospice of Northwest Ohio Toledo Center, surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 3, 1930 in Cygnet, Ohio to Joseph and Mary (Casey) Phillips. Jim served his country in the United States Air Force as a Drill Instructor. He was employed as a millwright for Lehn & Fink Company. Jim served on the Executive Board of the UAW Local 12. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan, enjoyed fishing and his Friday nights at the Toledo Speedway. Jim also loved spending time up north with family and friends.
Left to cherish his memory are Jim's children, Bonnie (Dan) Baxley, Wayne (Debbie) Phillips, Pat (Karen) Phillips, Kim Snyder, Scott (Marcia) Phillips and Tim Phillips; 16 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and brother, John (Mary) Phillips. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brothers, Mick and Wayne Phillips and sister, Harriett Yarnell.
The family will receive guests Monday, April 9, 2012 from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., (419-381-1900). Funeral services will begin Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at 9:15 am in the funeral home followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church.
