James F. McLean, Sr., 96, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2012. He was born on October 29, 1916 to the late Marie and James D. McLean in Detroit, Michigan.
Jim was a proud WWII Veteran of the United States Army Air Corps. He served four years and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. Jim retired from Prestole Fasteners in 1978, where he worked as a Foreman for many years. He loved his cars, hunting and was an avid Detroit Tigers and Lions fan. Jim enjoyed spending time with his family; he especially looked forward to the annual "McLean Family Reunion." He was a devout Catholic and a member of Regina Coeli Church since the Parish opened.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his siblings, Elise, Mary, Margaret, Harry, Don, John and Robert. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 71 years, Ruth; sons, James, Jr. "Fred" (Laurie), Patrick "Mike" (June) and Denny (Cathy); grandchildren, Julie, Lisa (Ben), Linda (Jeff) and Pat (Sue); great-grandchildren, Cameron, Courtney, Cole, Miranda, Meredith, Jonah, Zachary, A.J., Abi, Kaden, Ava, Gavin and many loving nieces and nephews. Jim was also blessed to have many caring friends and neighbors.
The family will receive guests from 9-10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Regina Coeli Catholic Church, 530 Regina Parkway, Toledo. A Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. Burial at Restlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
