James Matthews

James G. (Matt) Matthews

Our loving father and grandfather, James George Matthews, age 77, passed away in his home on Monday, July 2, 2007. Jim was born June 2, 1930, to George Matthews and Panagiota Krystales in Middleborough, Kentucky. He was a Woodward High School graduate and served in the United States Air Force where he met and married his wife of 49 years, Dorothy Hunter, who preceded him death. He was also preceded in death by his brother, William.

Jim worked for Libby-Owens-Ford Company retiring in 1983 and also worked at Thyerview Carryout for over 20 years.

Jim dedicated his life to his family volunteering his time to his children's numerous activities. He found great joy in giving to others and opened his heart and doors to those in need. His greatest joy was being surrounded by his growing family.

He remains in the hearts of his children, Michael (Carol) Matthews, Teresa (Mark) Shiffert, Katherine (Robert) Walters, Julia Herkimer (Toben Rieger) and Regina (Dylan) Livingearth; grandchildren, Amie, Andrew, Angela, April, Alissa, Nicholas, Benjamin, Sarah, Katie, Kelsie, Tony and Shayna; and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters Dorothy Demos and Katherine Fenady.

Funeral Mass will be on Friday, July 6 at St. Clement Church, 3030 Tremainsville Road, at 1:00 p.m. The family would like to thank Hospice for their support and asks that donations be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or St. Clement Church.
