James Ellis Massamore, age 75, of Toledo, Ohio passed away and left his earthly home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 13, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.

James Ellis was born in 1946 to Ellis Cleo Massamore and Margaret (Chappell) Massamore. After graduating from Monroe High School he served a tour in Vietnam during 1966-67 as a Sergeant with the 1st Cavalry, Airmobile Division and was a combat infantryman in the battle for A Sau Valley. He finished his enlistment at Ft. Meade, MD where he met the love of his life, best friend and wife of 51 years, Susan (Barber) Massamore.

James Ellis was employed as a tool and die maker at Daimler Chrysler for 36 years. He had a servant's heart and protected our community and country as a Special Deputy with the Lucas County Reserve Sheriff's department for 31 years. He concluded his military career as a Master Sergeant instructor for the military police, retiring after 24 years. He continued his love of reading and learning, graduating from Siena Heights University with a Bachelor of Applied Science. He was also an instructor in the trades and industry department at Owens Community College for 13 years. He was a past master at the Sanford L. Collins Masonic Lodge.

In his free time, he was an avid hunter. He had a passion for traveling and served on several mission trips with his church, Emmanuel Baptist. He was extremely proud of his grandchildren, for the wonderful people they have become and cherished all of the time he had with them. He leaves a lasting legacy of commitment to family and friends that will stand the test of time.
