James M. "Jim" Lawrence, 78, passed into Eternal Life peacefully on June 14, 2013. He was born on October 30, 1934 to the late Oscar "Red" and Modena "Dean" Lawrence in Swain County, North Carolina.
Jim retired in 1990 from the Local 6 Sheet Metal Workers Union. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Jim was affectionately known in church as "The Candyman." He enjoyed traveling and "all things cars." Jim was a devoted Detroit Tigers fan. He loved spending time with his family, especially during the holidays. Jim adored his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 58 years, Bonnie; children, J.R. (Melody), Marcia (Brian) Furrow, Donna Bartlett, Betty (Doug) Roesler; grandchildren, Dathan (Melody), Daniel (Nicole), Justin (Krissy), Robert (Jennifer), Amanda, David and Zachary; great-grandchildren, Abbygaile, Emmaleigh, Jacob, Jonah, Matthew and Asher (due in August) and many other relatives and friends.
The family will receive guests on Monday, June 17, 2013 from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. Friends and family may visit from 10-11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Bishop Chris Miller officiating.
