James F. Lotte
Since 1998 when he had two cardiac arrests, Jim felt he was living on borrowed time and he was so happy he lived to enjoy the arrival of eight great grandchildren. Jim was born on July 9th, 1926 to Frederick and Lavona Lotte on "the hottest day of the year," his mother said. He attended St. Agnes Grade School and left Central Catholic High School after his junior year to join the Navy during World War II. His parents had three sons in the Navy. Jim served aboard the USS Chicago, stationed in Honolulu and Japan. He never talked about life in the Navy, but one time we questioned him about it and he told us some interesting stories. After his discharge he was most proud of receiving his pilot's license. He and Mary Jo Marks were married July 28th, 1951 at St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Fostoria. Jim loved to golf, getting his only hole-in-one at Bayview. He also loved Tiger Woods, Notre Dame Football, bowling, fishing, anything to do with aviation, and all Whitmer sports. Nowadays his main enjoyment was Bob Barker, Lawrence Welk, CNN, and the summers we spent at our family cottage at Posey Lake.
Jim was an inspector at Dana Corp. retiring in 1985. Jim died peacefully at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center Tuesday, May 24, 2005. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, one sister, and grandson Maxx Lotte. He is survived by his loving family: wife of 54 years: Mary Jo; children: Michael Lotte, Mark (Susan) Lotte, Kathleen (Robert) Kwiatkowski; his wonderful grandchildren: Jeffrey (Jeni) Lotte, Tracy (Jeremiah) Przybylski, Courtney (Chris) May, Ryan, Ross, and Rob Kwiatkowski; step-grandchildren: Christina (Gabe) Riggs and Jeni Lotte; and 8 beautiful great grandchildren. According to Jim's wishes there will be no visitation.
A special thanks to all of the wonderful people at Alexis Dialysis for their loving care and support.
