James R. "Jim" Lemerand, age 81, of Toledo, passed in peace Thursday, February 9, 2023 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 20, 1941 to Fred and Mildred Lemerand in Toledo, Ohio.
Jim graduated from Macomber high school and then entered the National Guard and gave 7 years of service to his country. He worked for Norfolk and Western railroad for many years then finished off his career at the Lucas County Sherriff's Dept where he was a Deputy Sheriff before retiring with over 25 years, in 2010. Jim was an avid camper that loved spending time with his family and also loved to "supervise" any size projects that his family was involved in. He loved spending time with his dogs Maxx and Rexx. Jim looked forward to time spent with his wife, sons, grandchildren, and great grandchildren; family meant everything to him. His laughter, spirit and fun loving nature will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Fred "Sonny" Lemerand. Left to cherish Jim's memory are his loving wife, of over 55 years, Beverly Lemerand; loving sons, Jacques Lemerand (Melissa), Andre' Lemerand (Nicole), Jean-Paul Lemerand (Amy); sister, Karen Thompson (Thomas); sister-in-law Carol Lemerand and Joann Delong; brother-in-law Jack Sigler; 4 granddaughters, 4 great-grandchildren and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park Cemetery.
Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the Planned Pethood, Inc. of Toledo, OH or St. Jude's Children Hospital.
