James Robert Miller, 67, went home to be with his Lord Jesus on Friday, September 26, 2014 in his home in Toledo, Ohio.
Jim was born September 21, 1947 to Robert and Ersa Miller, in Loudon County Hospital, Loudon, Tennessee. When Jim was just one year old his parents moved from Lenoir City, Tennessee to Toledo, Ohio so that his father "Bob" could find work. A few years later, Jim had a younger brother Sam and followed by a sister Lou Ann. As a young boy Jim loved to watch baseball so much that he would watch a game on television while listening to another game on a radio! The family all lived on Dorr Street where Robert Miller managed Bettinger Greenhouses where Jim had his first job. Jim always loved to bowl and was quite good at playing pool as a young man. After graduating from Rogers high school in 1965 Jim joined the Air Force where he was stationed in Biloxi, Mississippi. Later, Jim was stationed in Buffalo, New York but soon after was honorably discharged from the service due to illness. Even after years of dealing with the darkness of mental illness and the terrible side effects of the medications, Jim still had a heart of gold! He would give his last dollar away and was generous in helping people he didn't know that were in need. He always helped those in his family if they had a need too! He loved Christmas time and would always go out to buy presents for all of his family. But more than anything else Jim loved his Lord and Savior Jesus! He shared his faith with everyone he met whether by the Christian shirt he had on or through sending out Christian tracks or just by word of mouth! He read completely through the bible several times beginning to end and always encouraged others to do so too! He loved to read until the last few months when it became very difficult for him to see.
James was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents. He is survived by his brother Sam Miller, sister Lou Ann (Gary) Wilmoth, nephews; Garret and Ryan Wilmoth, several aunts, uncles and cousins located throughout the local area and Tennessee.
The family will receive guests Saturday, October 4, 2014 from 10:30 am - 11:30 am at Newcomer Funeral Home - NW Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Saturday at 11:30 am. in the funeral home followed by entombment at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
