James Johnson, Jr., age 67, of Toledo, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, Wednesday, December 7th, 2011 at his residence. He was born November 20th, 1944 to James and Dorothy Johnson in Toledo. Jim was a Sales Agent providing Health Insurance to many clients through N.A.S.E. of Houston Texas, for several years. Jim also worked with Whirlpool and more recently was employed with Ottawa Hills Memorial Park as a Sales Agent. He enjoyed traveling and was an avid sportsman following the Cleveland Indians, the Cleveland Browns and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Jim enjoyed playing cards and looked forward to a good game of Euchre and a good cigar with his buddies. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a talent for telling jokes. Jim loved to make people around him laugh and smile. To him there were no strangers, just friends he hadn't yet met. Jim was a loving husband, father and grandfather, putting his family first. He will be truly missed by all who had the pleasure to know him.
Jim was preceded in death by his dear mother, Dorothy Johnson. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Maria (Cologne) Johnson; sons, James Johnson, Tommy Johnson, Jason Johnson and Tony Lee Gonzales; brother, Michael (Tommie); sisters, Cathy (Mike), Debbie (Karl) and Mary (Dave); 4 grandchildren; father, James (Doti) Johnson, Sr., his uncle, Eddy and his furry friends, Garfield and Coco. Jim's memory will also be cherished by many extended family members and dear friends.
The family will receive guests Friday from 2-4 & 5-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, 104 W. Broadway St. Maumee, OH. Officiating will be Rev. Keith A. Stripe. Entombment to will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
