James William (Jim) Holder, age 90, passed away, on Monday, September 25, 2023. He was born June 23, 1933, in Toledo, to the late Gordon and Rose (Fuire) Holder.
Jim graduated from Waite High School in 1951. At the age of 12, Jim got his first job as a paper carrier to help support the family after the death of his father. After high school, he went on to work for Willys Jeep Overland before entering the military. Jim enlisted in the army in 1953. He was stationed in Ft. Hood, TX, and Kitzigen, Germany. He was assigned to the armory division and was part of a tank unit. After the military Jim entered a Floor Layers apprenticeship where he went on to complete his journeymanship. He worked as a floor layer until his retirement. Jim was a 67-year member of Carpenters Local Union #351.
Jim was an avid bowler. He enjoyed playing cards with his brothers and brothers-in-law at the many family get-togethers, as well as playing Euchre with his wife and their friends. Jim also loved playing with his kids, whether it was building snow forts, snowball fights, or just throwing the baseball back and forth.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Karen (Andrew) Ronfeldt, Doug Holder, and Debra (Michael) Ondrus; grandchildren, Bryce, Ryan, Patrick, Ian, Marlaina, Natalie, and Gareth; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his loving wife, Louise, of 56 years, and by his brothers, Gordon and Rendal, and his two sisters, Shirley and Donna.
A private graveside service will be held at Toledo Memorial Park.
