James L. “Jim” Hock, age 82, of Toledo, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at Lakes of Sylvania with loving family by his side. He was born on October 20, 1941 to John and Vera (Lantz) Hock in Toledo. Jim graduated in 1959 from Genoa High School. He then went on to obtain his Bachelor’s Degree in Physics from Miami of Ohio. Jim was a Physics teacher throughout his career working at Cardinal Stritch High School and retiring from Sylvania Northview High School. He was strong in his faith and loved the Lord. Jim enjoyed canoeing, woodworking, camping, hiking and being in the outdoors. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Jim was a people person, never meeting a stranger! His smile, spirit and caring nature will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Judy. Left to cherish Jim’s memory are his loving sister, Susan (Kevin) Belanger; children, Jennifer Hock, Amy (Mike) Stella, Jessica (Tim) Upp, Daniel Hock and Isaac (Stacy) Hock; mother of his children, Terri Hock; grandchildren, Nico, Emerson, Andrew, Jaiden, Isabella, Azaria, and Jase; many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 21, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Oak Openings, Mallard Lake Shelter House, 5402 Wilkins Rd., Whitehouse, OH 43571.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make memorial contributions in honor of Jim are asked to consider the Parkinson’s Foundation.
