James C. Hassen, Sr.
James C. Hassen, Sr. age 62 of Toledo passed away Monday, February 14th, 2005 in his home. He was born October 19, 1942 to Fred and Miriam (Craft) Hassen in Toledo. James served 24 years in the United States Marine Corps as a Gunnery Sergeant. As a Vietnam Veteran he was a Combat Air Crewman flying on several missions and was awarded 2 Air Medals. Jim was a life member of the VFW Post #2898. He enjoyed NASCAR racing and cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes, as well as building model cars.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Katherine (Robinson) Hassen; children, Tina (James) Pritchett of Millington, TN; Sherry (Kerry) Long of Millington, TN.; Kelly (John) Fletcher of Marathon, FL.; Tracie Lusher of Toledo and James (Britnie Rogers) Hassen, Jr. of Toledo; brother, Lyle (JoAnn) Hassen of Grand Rapids, MI.; sister, Carolyn (Dale) Gaerke of Perrysburg, OH.; 12 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and his loving cat "Smokey'.
The family will receive guests Friday from 2-8:00 p.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will be Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Chaplain Dallas Heslet. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
