James J. Hassen, age 55 of Toledo passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, July 12, 2011. He was born November 12, 1955 to Raymond and Coeline (Dippman) Hassen in Toledo. James was a City of Toledo employee, having worked in the Forestry Department for 21 years. He also served as a volunteer for the Sylvania Township Fire Department for one year.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Diane Hassen; daughter, Tamra Hassen; mother and father, Raymond and Coeline Hassen; brother, John (Melody) Hassen; nieces, Hilary (Aaron) Roggelin and Emily (Jake) Miller; sister, Bonnie DeYoung-Gross; nephews, Stephen (Shannon) DeYoung and Zachary Gross; sister, Vickie (Dave) Rockow; nephew, Michael Rockow and niece, Amy Rockow; brother, Tom (Patti) Hassen; nephew, Logan Hassen; sister-in-law, Glenda (Dennis) Martin; niece, Tami (Mike); nephew, Tyler Schultz and Cameron Schultz; niece, Crystal and Kara Behnfeldt; great-nephew, Cooper; niece, Jody (Floyd) Hammon; step-daugther, Heather (Bill) Straka; grandchildren, Austin Straka and Breanna Straka; step-son, Randy "Bubba" Warner and beloved canine companion, Skip.
A heartfelt thank you goes to Austin, James was very grateful for your presence and the comfort you provided him, you truly were his guardian angel.
The family will receive guests Friday from 12:00 p.m. (Noon) to 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home Friday at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Daniel DeFriece officiating.
The Hassen Family would like to specially thank the nurses at Hospice of Northwest Ohio for the diligent care, support and love they had given to James.
