James Garner

June 14, 1945 — September 11, 2014

James "Paul" Garner, age 69, of Oregon, Ohio ended his 10 month battle with cancer, Thursday September 11, 2014 at home in the care of his 3 youngest children, Michael, Tamra and Paula and his bestfriend and the love of his life, Tammy Garner with the help of Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

Paul never complained throughout his many hospital and nursing home stays. His children and family always there by his side. Paul's life was fulfilled knowing that the love of his family was the greatest blessing.

Everyone that ever met Paul would agree he was the nicest guy you'll meet. He'd take all your money on the poker table but turn around and give you the shirt off his back. His greatest happiness was spending time with his children and family, especially his "Garner" girls. He also enjoyed keeping up with current events by watching the daily news. He loved reading many books, watching court tv shows, going for walks, listening to country music and eating his favorite foods, pinto beans, cornbread, mashed potatoes and fried chicken that Paula loved to cook for him. He never missed a chance to tell a joke and he loved to relax at home or with friends drinking a beer.

He worked for many years as a cabinet maker by trade and would offer up a helping hand to anyone in need no matter what the circumstances. He showed love and respect to everyone he met and his kind Southern charm always shined through. He didn't go very long without calling "home" to check in with his brothers and sisters in Alabama, his brother Joe Mack in Toledo and his daughter Angela in Kentucky. And even though he was absent for many years from his two oldest children's lives Jeff and Angela, he always spoke of his deep love for them. We only wish we would have had more time with him. He was the strongest man we have ever seen and put up an unbelievable fight till the very end. We know his love was truly without limits. We appreciate all the time we shared with the greatest man and "best" dad in the world...We love you Dad.

Paul is survived by his children, Tamra Garner, Michael (Yuleidis "Julie") Garner, Paula Garner, Jeff (Jennifer) Garner, Angela (Ron) DiFuria; grandchildren, Michael, Amber, Joey, Aaron and Amanda; great-grandchildren; siblings, Janie Williams, Willa Mae Kretzer, Persuial Phillips, Barbara Newton and Joe Mack Garner; best friend and love of his life, Tammy Garner; sister-in-law, Theresa Rhobasser; brother-in-law, Greg Tavarez; and many nieces and nephews.
