James E "Jim" Sanderson, age 82, of Toledo, passed away Thursday, April 10, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 25, 1931 to Arthur and Wanda (Gormley) Sanderson in Toledo. Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He met Sandra Johnson in Spokane, Washington in 1951 and they went on to be married June 13, 1953 and would have celebrated 61 years of marriage this June. They moved to Toledo in 1955 and raised the rest of their family in Toledo. Jim worked as a sound technician for Toledo Sound Company and Cousino Communications for many years. He also worked at Brint Electric and most recently with Anderson's Tire Man with his sons, before retiring. Jim was a loving, devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gormley Sanderson. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Sandy Sanderson; children, Michael (Rita) Sanderson, Wanda (Larry Tibai) Ketcham, Doug (Kris) Sanderson, Danny (Michele) Sanderson and Beth (Al) Lee; 7 grandsons, Jeremy, J.D., Dylan, Michael, Joshua, Joseph and James; 7 granddaughters, Angela (Brian), Erin, Emily (Shane), Bethany (Carl), Denielle, Samantha and Melodie; 6 great-grandsons, Nicholas, Aidan, Luke, Crys, Arias and Jackson and one on the way; 3 great-granddaughters, Nicole, Kayleigh and Baylee; and family friend, Phil Ketcham
The family will receive guests on Tuesday from 2 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
