James D. Briscoe, Sr.
James D. Bricsoe, Sr., age 56 of Metamora, Ohio died Monday, February 14th, 2005 in his home. He was born November 11, 1948 to Herald and Alice (Derescz) Briscoe in Toledo. Jim retired from Daimler Chrysler in 1998 after 30 years of employment. Jim was a Vietnam Veteran and proudly served his country. He was a former member of the Sylvania Moose Lodge, the Placers Club and the Ottawa River Yacht Club. He enjoyed restoring cars and building his family their dream cottage, a place where many years of enjoyment were to be. He was also a collector of "coke-a-cola" memorabilia. Jim was a man who was dealt many challenges. He turned these challenges into triumphs and lived life to the fullest. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, treasuring the times he spent with his family and friends. He will be remembered for his unending "quick wit" and wonderful sense of humor. He was taken from us too soon and we will cherish his memory forever.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brothers, Douglas Briscoe and John Whitzel. He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Cindy (S. (Podgorski) Briscoe; son, J. Daniel Briscoe, Jr.; daughters, Cheryl; Adrienne and Courtney; granddaughter and the "apple of his eye"; Madison; brothers, Harry Briscoe and Robert (Doreena) Briscoe; In-laws; Diane and Jerry Podgorski; sisters-in-law; Rebecca (Chris) White and Sara Podgorski; brother-in-law; Jeff (Jackie) Podgorski many nephews; nieces and dear friends that Jim enjoyed sharing good times and laughs with.
The family will receive guests Saturday from 3-8:00 p.m. and Sunday from 12-4 & 6-8:00 p.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will be Monday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Veterans Organization to provide prosthetics for veterans with disabilities.
