James R. "Jim" Calvin, age 70, of Toledo, passed away with his family by his side at Ebeid Hospice on Sunday, August 12, 2018. He was born on October 16, 1947 in Adrian, MI to Richard Calvin and Elizabeth (Silberhorn) Kershner. Throughout Jim's life he was a talented classic car restoration artist, known by many in the Toledo area. His true passion was classic street-rod cars - he was truly a "car freak!" Most recently he worked at Wood County Collision.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Jody (Shaffer) Calvin; mother, Elizabeth Kershner; children, Rodney Calvin and Brandy Calvin-Rodgers; step-children, Jose and Jimmy Garza, Jody Uland (Larry Bell); siblings, Lewis, Sr. (Jill) Calvin, Linda (Dave) Lips, Richard (Linda) Calvin and Karen (Doug) Witt; grandchildren, Alexis and Cloe Dickerson and many friends, too many to mention! He was preceded in death by his father; step-father, James Kershner; siblings, Larry, Gary and infant sister, Nancy Calvin.
The family will receive guests on Sunday, August 19, 2018 from 2-7:00 p.m. at Newcomer - Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). His Funeral Service will begin in the funeral home on Monday, August 20, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
