James C. Henderson, Sr.

James C. "Jim" Henderson, Sr., age 76, of Sylvania, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 7, 1940 to Robert and Margaret (Salisbury) Henderson in Toledo. Jim worked as a boiler operator for about 20 years at Toledo Public Schools at Lincoln and Nathan Hale Elementary Schools. He enjoyed vegetable gardening, tending to his pond, making stained glass, and drag racing. Jim enjoyed drinking coffee and bullshitting with his neighbors. He also loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years, Beverly Henderson; brothers, Robert, Tony and Ray Henderson; sister, Nancy Irwin; and granddaughter, Madison Henderson. Jim is survived by his children, James Henderson, Jr., Vince (Penny) Henderson and Zandra (Christopher) Anthony; grandchildren, Miranda (Joe), James III, Keylin, Veronica, Baylee, Rebecca, Jacob, Cam and Zalen; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Rylan and Audrey; cousin, Larry (Bobbi) Mau; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive guests on Thursday, October 13, 2016 from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) where a Funeral Service will take place on Friday, October 14, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
