James C. "Jim" Ferguson, age 73 of Toledo was called home on Saturday, January 29, 2011 after a long battle with Dementia with Lewy Bodies. He was born December 7, 1937 to Fred and Clara (Kurth) Ferguson in Toledo. On July 25, 1959 James married Delores (Strayer) Ferguson in Toledo and together they spent 51 wonderful years. Jim was employed as an engineering draftsman and checker for 45 years for various companies. He was a Deacon at Sylvania First Christian Church where he loved to serve the Lord. Following his retirement, Jim was known as the "bingo man" at Lake Park Care Center and the Franciscan Care Center , where he would volunteer to serve the residents. In his free time he enjoyed golfing, hunting, gardening and was an avid Cleveland sports fan.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Delores; children, Jeanine (Tom) Molina, Rebecca (Dave) Lewis, James Jr. (Tamela) Ferguson, John Ferguson and Brian Ferguson; grandchildren, Amber and Ashley Molina, Megan and Alex Lewis, Lindsay and Connor Ferguson and brother, Fred R. (Beverly) Ferguson. Preceding James in death were his parents.
Family and friends are invited to join the family for a Memorial Service on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Sylvania First Christian Church, 5271 Alexis Rd., Sylvania, Ohio.
The family would like to specially thank the staff at Hospice of Northwest Ohio for the diligent care and support they provided to James for the past 17 months.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Sylvania First Christian Church or to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
