James L Bucher

James L. Bucher, better known as "Jim, Jimbo & Papa," passed away on March 11, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on May 1, 1950, in Toledo, Ohio, Jim leaves behind a legacy marked by dedication, family, and a passion for the open road.

A knowledgeable truck driver, Jim worked at Hertzfeld Poultry in Grand Rapids. Additionally, he proudly served as a volunteer firefighter with the Whitehouse Fire Department, where he made a lasting impact by responding to emergencies and supporting the local community.

Jim’s interests extended beyond his professional life; he was a passionate fan of Dale Earnhardt and held a deep appreciation for late model dirt racing, where he followed the career of Rick DeLong.

Jim was raised in Whitehouse and graduted from Anthony Wayne High School in 1968. Jim's personal life was enriched by his marriage to Georgia Bucher on August 16, 2003. Together, they built cherished memories, had many laughs, & loved to travel. Jim was a devoted father and stepfather to his children: son Eric Bucher; daughter Jennifer (John) Isola; and stepsons Geremy (Jennifer) McConnell, Jon (Stephanie) McConnell, and Joel (Buffy) McConnell. He was particularly proud & fiercely loved his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jim is also survived by his siblings: Jeff (Ellen) Bucher, Janine Bucher, and Joseph (Claudia) Bucher and by his former wife, Anna Bucher. A faithful companion, his dog Rosie brought him happiness and companionship throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carlton and Leona Bucher.

Jim will have a celebration of life at a later date. Donations in Jim's memory can be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Chapel. Online condolences may be left at newcomertoledo.com.
