James E. Bell Sr.

James E. Bell, Sr., age 90, of Toledo, departed this life on Monday, December 19, 2022 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. He fought a good battle and lived a great life. James was also known as Jim, Papa Bell, Daddy Bell, Pops and the official "Greyghost" because he had grey hair at a young age. Born March 29, 1932 in Kaiser, Arkansas to the union of Howard and Effie Bell. To this union seven children were born. Jim worked for various construction and trucking companies until his retirement in 1996.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bobby; sister Etta; daughter, Janice; son, Larry; former wives, Eddie V. Bell and Audrey Gray-Bell. Surviving are his children, James Jr. (Shelia), Barbara; grandchildren, China, Kairina, Aundrell, Michayla; special daughter, Amelia Works; siblings, Margaret, Dorthy, Howard, Richard; good friend Melvin "Rudi" Ivey Sr. and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive guests on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 10-11:00 a.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home-Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd, Toledo (419-473-0300) with a funeral ceremony at 11:00 a.m.at the funeral home.
