James A. "Jim" Soden, age 68, of Toledo, passed away after a courageous fight with multiple illnesses that he had battled over the past several years. He was born on March 8, 1947 to Joseph and Florence (Lippold) Soden in Toledo. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a Ranger during the Korean and Vietnam Wars, having earned a Purple Heart in Vietnam. Jim ended his military duty as a Staff Sergeant. He spent 31 years as an Engineer with the Ford Motor Co., retiring in 2001. A true passion of Jim's was anything relating to cars, working, building and fabricating cars. His legacy will be remembered by his family as being a true, compassionate, giving and selfless husband, father and grandfather.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 43 years, Gerrie (Tompkins) Soden; son, Michael (Adrienne) Soden and Stacy (Kevin) Soden; grandchildren, Ariana, Aleyxa, Collin and Lia Rose. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Susie Soden.
The family will receive guests on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 from 4-8:00 p.m.at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. Entombment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
