James A. Smith
James A. Smith "Smitty", 78, passed away on June 11th, 2011. He was born on November 28th, 1932 to the late Leona (Bowser) and Anthony Smith in Toledo, Ohio.
Jim retired from General Mills in 1993 after 37 years of service. He loved being on the water at his cottage and liked to go fishing. Jim enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was very fond of gardening and always made sure his neighbors got to share his fresh tomatoes.
In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Urbanowski and Betty Richardson. He is survived by his children, Thomas (Dorothy) Smith, Patricia (Wade-deceased) Smith, Cynthia (Kevin) Stark; brother, Richard (Charlene) Smith; grandchildren, Jeremy Smith, Heather Vicary, Timothy and Tiffany Toeppe, Joshua, Kyle and Kristina Stark; great-grandchildren, Patricia, Timothy, Braden and Robert.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Alexis Congregational Church, 6202 N. Detroit Avenue, Toledo, Ohio. Pastor Gary Hulisz officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
