Jacqueline Sue "Jackie" (Rainey) LaVoy, age 37, of Toledo, passed away after a long battle with breast cancer and AML, Friday, August 10, 2007 in the Toledo Hospital. She was born July 1, 1970 to Ralph Rainey and Linda VanSlyke in Toledo. Jackie was an Assistant Director of the Silver Rose Award Program of Toledo. She also authored a website "My Quiet Hero" which was important to her. Jackie was a strong advocate for the fight against breast cancer and an active member of the Victory Center. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and grandmother. Jackie cherished the time she was able to spend with her children and family.
She was preceded in death by her godfather; Uncle Bernie Berry; Jackie is survived by her husband of 20 years, James A. LaVoy; children, Lyndsey and Jimmy LaVoy and Erin McGovern; grandson, Jaydon McGovern; father, Ralph Rainey; mother, Linda (Ed Barfield) VanSlyke; sister, Ginger Rainey; godmother, Linda Berry and many, many loving cousins and extended family members.
A special thanks to "Cousins Who Care" for the love and support they provided to Jackie and her family through these difficult years.
The family will receive guests Sunday from 2-8:00 p.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300)with a Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will begin Monday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Resurrection at 10:00 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church, 3030 Tremainsville Rd.
