Jacqueline F. "Jackie" (Corey) Briner, age 85, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 13, 2013 surrounded by loved ones at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. She left her Earthly home to join the Lord and loved ones who were waiting patiently for her in her heavenly home. She was born in Toledo to Frederick "Butch" and Frieda (Kerentoff) Corey. Jackie married Leonard Wesley Briner in 1948.
Jackie enjoyed a full and happy life, raising four children, and returning to continue her education at age 50. She landed her favorite job in the Auditor's office at the Lucas County Courthouse where she retired from after 15 fulfilling years.
One of Jackie's favorite things in life was spending weekends with her husband Wes at their camper in Hillsdale, MI. So many wonderful memories were forged there with their children, grandchildren and many friends. Jackie made many friends throughout her life and enjoyed playing cards, bingo and taking day trips to various places with them.
She traveled to the West Coast as often as possible to visit her daughter Sue and family. She was present for the births of Sue's children as well as several of great-grandchildren here in the Toledo area. Jackie always brought a sense of lightness and sarcasm that would make everyone laugh, no matter what the circumstances. She had a sassy sense of humor and anyone she came in contact with quickly became aware of her wit.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wes Briner; son, David Briner; and daughter, Sue Mazzini. She leaves many to cherish her memory. Missing Jackie greatly will be her sons, Michael (Sally) and Jim (Debby) Briner; grandchildren, Christian, Troy, Rachel, Adrianne, Jaimee, Daniel, Courtney, Lindsay, Cory, Taia, Quissama, Joe, Silas and Jordan; and 14 great-grandchildren.
There will be no visitation for Jackie per her request. A Celebration of Life will take place Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 3:00 p.m.. The Newcomer Funeral Home (419-473-0300) assisted the family with professional services.
The family wishes to give a special thank you to Hospice of Northwest Ohio and to Bay Park Hospital, especially Tom Zak and for all of their prayers and care given to Jackie and her family through this difficult time.
Those wishing to make monetary donations are asked to consider Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
